ALSTER APPARTMENT, HAMBURG
This historic apartment overlooking the Outer Alster was curated as a space where art and everyday life exist in continuous dialogue.
Historic elements such as stucco ceilings, herringbone parquet and a sandstone fireplace provide a richly layered backdrop with authentic patina. Rather than competing with this architectural character, the interior styling introduces calm through a restrained palette of light creams and warm beige tones. This reduction allows both art and objects to breathe.
The furnishing concept combines collectible design, sculptural pieces and custom-made elements. Iconic classics by Pierre Jeanneret, Jean Royère and Mario Bellini sit alongside contemporary interventions. Above the dining table a chandelier by New York Design Studio Roll & Hill acts as a luminous focal point — part light source, part sculpture.
Custom-designed pieces in Calacatta Viola marble further blur the boundary between function and art. The coffee table, with its soft, cushion-like silhouette, creates a deliberate tension between visual lightness and material weight. A matching marble console in the dining area serves both as a functional surface for gatherings and as a minimalist object that subtly structures the room.
